Tulum was a strategically located economic center of the Maya and is the only archaeological site in the Riviera Maya that was built directly on the tranquil Caribbean coast. Thanks to the high and vertically sloping cliffs, this ruined city served the Maya as a natural fortress. When the Spanish conquerors arrived here in front of Tulum in 1518, they were afraid and thought they were looking at a fortress and therefore ended up further north.
Tulum, which was also an astronomical center, is only about 1 hour away from Playa del Carmen and is particularly picturesque for the visitor, you can visit the archaeological site as part of a half-day excursion or as a day trip in combination with another tour.
Let yourself be impressed by the history of this former cultural and religious center, marvel at the many wall paintings, sculptures and temples, and let yourself be introduced to the world of the Mayan gods.
Enjoy the spectacular view of the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea, taste and smell the salty sea air, listen to the sounds of the surf.
