Sian Ka’an is about 2 hours drive away from Playa del Carmen and extends in the southeast of the Yucatan peninsula. This natural attraction is an absolute must for nature lovers who want to distance themselves a little and get to know the flora and fauna of the region better.
The Sian Ka’an Biosphere was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. There are only five entrances to this nature reserve.
The name stands for “place where heaven was born”. The tropical rainforest, mangroves, marine ecosystem and coral reef are important habitats for manatees, turtles, lizards, crocodiles, rays and more than 300 species of birds.
But the greatest and most breathtaking thing is that dolphins can be experienced up close in their natural environment.
Course of the excursion:
After about two hours drive from Playa del Carmen, our tour participants will continue the trip in the nature reserve with boats, 9 people per boat.
First we discover the mangroves and the bird island, then we go snorkeling in the second largest coral reef in the world to discover sea turtles, tropical fish, rays and starfish.
The highlight are the dolphins that live in the wild and can be observed up close.
Then we swim in the crystal clear water of a bay which is also known as a natural swimming pool and at the end there is a rich, typical mexican lunch on the beach including drinks.
What does the excursion include?
The price includes pick-up and drop-off at the hotel lobby in an air-conditioned minivan for 20 people, admissions, an english-speaking guide, insurance, lunch, snorkeling equipment, drinks and a good mood. This tour continues with a Unimog/Truck from the city of Tulum!
